Appreciate nature and improve your health by eating what’s in season. It’s good for the environment, good for the farmers, and most importantly, good for you! Try:
Pomegranates – One of the most antioxidant-rich fruits, pomegranates have more anti-inflammatory antioxidants than either green tea or red wine. Try it fresh (in season til January).
Pumpkins – Are orange from carotenoids – plant pigments that prevent free radicals from causing damage in your skin. Pumpkins are also chock-full of vitamins (including A, C, and E) and enzymes that help clean your skin. Enjoy pumpkin soup or pie while it’s in season.
Persimmons – A common Asian autumn fruit now grown in California, persimmons contain a large amount of fiber, vitamins A and C, and a host of other nutrients good for your body. Visit your local supermarket and give one a try.
