Stop smoking. Okay, this one is obvious. If your mission in life is to end up looking like a California sun-dried tomato, keep sucking it in. It’s your skin or your nicotine addiction!
Use AHA or BHA (retinols). Retinols are vitamin-A derivatives and have a molecular structure small enough to penetrate skin’s lower levels, where they strengthen and replenish collagen and elastin. Studies have shown their ability to moisturize, smooth, restore skin tone and color, and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Apply daily and erase years from your face.
Exfoliate once a week. Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin’s outermost surface. When done correctly, exfoliation leaves the skin feeling smoother and fresher looking. Be sure to get a formulation that works for your skin type. Oily? Use a chemical exfoliator. Sensitive? Use scrubs found in microabrasives.
Use eye cream daily. You’ll age first and fastest around your eyes. Use eye cream and you’ll slow down the process.
Take anti-oxidants. Whether you ingest them in pill form, drink them via Japanese green tea, or apply them topically to your skin. They’ll make a world of difference over time.
Let’s face it – aging skin – like death and taxes – is inevitable. That doesn’t mean you can’t slow down the process and keep looking fabulous along the way!
