Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

I don’t know about you, but during the winter season my hands get super dry! Winter air can so be harsh on your hands, not to mention all of the hand washing. As I type this post, my cuticles are ragged and my hands feel tight and dry. I am obsessed with hand creams, and I have my favorites. Here I have rounded up seven products that are the cream of the crop when it comes to well, creams.

LOccitane Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream $26 (available in stores only)

This ultra-moisturizing best seller is a must have this season! L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream contains, you guessed it, shea butter. Honey and sweet almond oil complete the soothing formula. The light scent of jasmine and ylang-ylang will surround you with a gorgeous aroma every time you apply it.  It’s a treat for your hands and your nose!

TokyoMilk Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

Tokyo Milk Hand Cream $18

Tokyo Milk’s Hand Creams are contained in some of the loveliest packaging I have ever seen. Perfect for gifting this holiday season, the decadent cream comes in a bevy of fragrances, making it a no-brainer for everyone on your list. My personal favorite is Let Them Eat Cake No. 11. A blend of sugar cane, coconut milk and white musk, the scent feels so right for this season. The hand cream is blended with shea butter, extracts of green tea, mimosa bark and dandelion. In a word, addictive.

Qtica Peel Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

Qtica Intense Hand Rejuvenating Peel $25 and Overnight Intense Hand Repair Balm $20

If you have some time on your hands (pun intended), why not try a hand peel?  Qtica’s Intense Hand Rejuvenating Peel is unique because you do not need water to use it. Simply apply the peel to your dry hands, rub the sloughing cream onto your skin and be amazed as you see it lift and remove dead, dry skin. Afterwards, it leaves behind a very thin layer of paraffin to protect your skin from further dryness.

QticaBalmjpg Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

Pair Qtica’s Intense Hand Rejuvenating Peel with their Overnight Intense Hand Repair Balm. This rich balm is formulated with honey, vitamins and essential oils to help seal and heal your hands overnight. My fellow Beauty Collection Blogger Claudia C. tested it out a few months ago and saw serious improvement in the condition of her hands.

Ahava Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

Ahava Dermud Intensive Hand Cream $28

Truly dry skin can be uncomfortable and itchy. Ahava’s Dermud Intensive Hand Cream will work hard to fight itchy, scaly skin. Enriched with Dead Sea minerals, aloe vera, and jojoba seed oil, this greaseless cream will quench parched skin and cure the itchies.

Juara Skin Care for Winter: Baby Your Hands

Juara Candlenut Hand and Body Balm $10-$25

For those of you who like more bang for your beauty buck, this is the product for you. Feel free to apply this not only to your hands, but also to your entire body. The cushiony formula was designed to protect your skin from the elements and keep you moisturized all day. The balm’s star ingredient, candlenut oil, is loved in Indonesia for its superior moisturizing capabilities. In addition, Juara’s nourishing balm is dermatologist tested and paraben free.

Vow to baby your hands this winter and invest in a good cream. Your skin will be softer, your manicures will look better and you won’t be shy when it comes to hand holding!

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go rub on some balm! Ciao BC readers!

[Review] Qtica’s Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair Balms

qtica1 [Review] Qticas Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair Balms

The brand Qtica brings us a professional-grade level of lip, hand, nail, and foot treatments.  You may find them being used in some of the top salons or in my case, my local Beauty Collection has a large selection of their products.  Their goal was to create a line of beauty treatments that would be free of toxins such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde and DBP (dibutyl phthalate).  It’s no wonder that Qtica can be found in salons, spas, and resorts and has been featured in top fashion magazines. They are also the sister brand to the  Zoya Nail Laquer line that can be also be found in store at Beauty Collection.

Being given the opportunity to test out some new manicure and pedicure products sounded great to me!  Over the past couple months, I’ve been pretty consistent in keeping a standard weekly routine of new Mani’s and pedis.  I often want to share my work with friends on  Facebook, so I do my best to make my hands and toes look good.  I decided on the Overnight Intense Hand Repair Balm and the Overnight Foot Balm.  I figured an overnight treatment would be the easiest way to incorporate this since I often don’t have time to go to a spa and sit there for an hour .  A nice paraffin wrap at the salon with these products would be heavenly to try, but for now I was sticking to my at home spa treatments.

qtica balms 256x300 [Review] Qticas Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair Balms

REVIEW

Both of the balms work in a similar fashion by using a super thick formula using Lanolin, Beeswax, and Aloe leaf to coat your hands and feet and lock in the intense treatment. Lanolin, which is really sheep’s sebum, acts as a wax to waterproof the skin and lock in moisture.  Beeswax also helps keep the moisture thick and keep the beneficial vitamins right on the skin.  It is important to note that the balms should be done at bedtime: only.  As I learned on the very first day of ripping the box open and offering it to the man of the house to try on his hands while I tried on my feet; your hands will be greasy and coated so NOT a good idea before cooking dinner or wanting to kick back on the couch. Whoops.  Hehe… It dawned on me that by using a pair of regular socks I could give my footsies a treatment without ruining my sheets and leaving marks on the furniture.

qtica hand balm [Review] Qticas Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair Balms

I’ve been using the  Overnight Intense Hand Repair Balm for about two weeks now and I have noticed that my cuticles don’t split as often, and the tops of my hands are smooth. Most likely due to the nightly treatments that infuse vitamin E into the thin skin there.  Don’t forget, our hands show age too, and I’ve never been good with remembering to put sunscreen on my hands, just the face and ears.  Remember, when you drive your hands are under a glass that is under that fireball in the sky (the sun) that makes our skin age.  The hours I’ve racked up in the car doing that are countless.  How about you?  Sunscreen? Or Driver’s Gloves?

Until I can buy a pair of gucci gloves like it’s a carton of milk, I’ll be sticking to the vitamin E at night, and attempting to remember sunscreen on my hands during the day.  Hey a girl can hope cant she?  As you can see from the picture below it the balm is very thick so you will need to rub it in well.  It will leave a subtle sheen on your hands when all rubbed in, so its good to have a small towel at your nightstand in case you need to grab something quick.

qtica foot [Review] Qticas Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair Balms

The Overnight Intense Foot Repair Balm was also very thick and creamy looking until you rub it in well.  The one special addition to the foot balm is Salicylic acid which softens the rough spots I get from wearing heels all the time.  As long as you use nightly and with socks you will see AND feel the difference on your feet.  The tops of my toes get dry from wearing peep-toes at work and flip-flops at home. This cream sinks into the thicker skin of the feet to get them soft and smooth again.

feet 297x300 [Review] Qticas Overnight Intense Hand & Foot Repair BalmsThe Qtica hand and foot repair balms are easy to incorporate into your own mani and pedi routine, after all, its done all while you sleep so it can save you time for other important things you’ve got going on.  The squeeze tubes give you a generous amount that will last you quite some time too.  So if you are looking for a little extra treat for your tootsies or hands, check out the Qtica balms.

Later Ladies!
