One of the hottest trends this fall is the soft, metallic smoky eye. While I have seen this trend between the pages of Allure and InStyle, none have inspired me as much as the models on the Chanel runway. Peter Philips, the legendary Chanel Global Creative Director of makeup, brought an extra dose of edgy to the show with shimmery smokey eyes and strikingly pointed black liner. With Summer fading and Fall vastly approaching, we have you all set up to try this look our for yourself!
Check out this amazing Chanel inspired smoky eye, which will have you looking runway fresh in just 2 minutes!
Prime for perfection.
Prime your lids using the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer. If you aren’t familiar with primer, it is essential for any bold look – just like this one. Primer gives the product a little extra hold, creating a long-lasting, intense color without creases. I chose the Photo Finish Primer for a couple of reasons – the soft focus pearls help diminish the appearance of fine lines and discoloration on the lids, while the patented delivery system ensures effective results.

Smoke it Out.
Now it’s time to get down to business. To recreate the Chanel look, grab the Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette. This all inclusive palette has everything you need to accomplish not only this look, but a million others!
- Take the silver middle shadow and apply lightly under your brow bone, and in the inner corner of your eyelid.
- Second, use the black-silver shadow on the far right. Apply the shadow from your lash line, blending upward to your brow bone. Then, apply the same color under the outer half of your lower lash line blending inwards.
Wing tip wonder.
Step up the drama by adding a wing at the end of your liner. I used the LORAC Front Of The Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner. This is a professional, high-performing, no-smudge, water-resistant liner. The flexible tip provides ultimate control, accuracy and smooth strokes, so you’ll never miss your lines! From very fine to dramatically bold, this versatile liquid liner will take you to the front of the line every time! Don’t be afraid to really wing your liner. The winged tip adds a lot of dimension and character to this look.
A Little Volume Never Hurt Anyone.
To make your smoky eye pop, make sure you use a drama filled mascara, like the LORAC Special Effects Mascara. This double ended beauty comes with a mascara primer, which is so essential for a long-lasting look. First apply one coat of the primer (white tip/step 1) to your top and bottom lashes. Give the primer a few seconds to dry, then apply the mascara (red tip/step 2) to your top and bottom lashes.
TIP: To increase the drama, increase the number of layers! Just make sure to give your lashes a few seconds to dry before each application, this will help to build up more volume and thickness without you eyelashes clumping.
Smokey eyes are so much fun because you can personalize your look. I suggest starting off light-handed with the shadow. Remember ladies, in the world of cosmetics, it is always easier to add more on than it is to take some off!

While eye trends are constantly changing, my all-time favorite look will always be a classic Smoky Eye. With so many ways to customize it to your own preference, the Smoky Eye is perfect for a beach side luncheon or a hot night on the town. One of my favorite palettes to create the look is the Smoky Eye Palette by ![[DIY] A Sizzling Hot Smoky Eye shadow11 [DIY] A Sizzling Hot Smoky Eye](http://blog.beautycollection.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/shadow11.jpg)
