  • For one day (April 7, 2011) we commit to giving $1 to the Red Cross for every new “like” on Facebook

  • All new fans need to do is to click through to the Beauty Collection fan page, “like” us, and then leave a comment with one of their favorite beauty brands

  • The challenge closes at 11:59PM PST on April, 2011 OR when we reach 2,000 new fans

“Like” us – we dare you.  And if you’re a brand or retailer, we invite you to do your own “Like 4 A Cause” challenge.

Beauty Collection leads “No Sales Tax April” Cause – Encourages Other Retailers to Join

Join Us in No Sales Tax in April - a homegrown stimulus package

Beauty Collection is among the local retailers offering California consumers a tax break this April.  This is in response to the California state government move to increase sales tax by 1% on April 1, 2009.  Some California consumers will see their local sales tax go even higher when additional district-level increases approved by counties and cities across the state go into effect.

Retailers have been especially hard hit during the current economic downturn.  Many have seen revenues drop by 25% or more, and formerly thriving business and retail areas across the state now have the look and feel of ghost towns.  In a state where unemployment reached 10.5% in February (California Labor Market Review) – 30% higher than the national average – and where a tax increase will only put a damper on economic recovery, the state government is pushing forward with its tax increase anyway.

Like many retailers, Beauty Collection has been taking matters into its own hands.  Beauty Collection CEO, Shawn Tavakoli, stated recently in an interview, “It’s up to businesses to do what we do best – be resourceful and give California consumers a reason to spend.  It’s a really tough economic environment – the toughest I’ve ever seen.  The recession is even hitting beauty retailers like me, a market segment that’s traditionally done fine in economic downturns.  Meanwhile our elected officials in Sacramento are doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing: they’re increasing taxes.”

“Hopefully other retailers will join Beauty Collection in supporting the No Sales Tax April cause, and add their names to the list of supporting businesses at www.nosalestaxapril.com.”

Beauty Collection Makes Global WWD Best-Seller List

Women’s Wear Daily, the lead professional journal for the fashion, beauty, and retail industries, selected Los Angeles-based Beauty Collection as one of 14 global best-sellers in the just released issue of its quarterly WWD Beauty Biz magazine.  Beauty Collection was one of six U.S. retailers to make the list, and the only retailer in the state of California to be featured.

Women’s Wear Daily’s WWD Beauty Biz Spring issue focuses on the major products and trends of the season.  This year, WWD challenged its writers around the world to seek out the best and the brightest businesses operating in the beauty industry.  They found that retailers and marketers like Beauty Collection have done more than just give lip service to the concept of unique and compelling propositions.  Across all categories, groundbreaking innovation and inspired design have resulted in products that trigger both need and want.

Other U.S. retailers featured along with Beauty Collection include Bloomingdales, Beauty 360, and Henri Bendel.  International retailers that made the list include Harvey Nichols (UK), and Sephora (France).

New products featured in this year’s Spring WWD Beauty Biz issue and available at Beauty Collection include: Hair By Revitalash, a unique conditioner that fortifies and strengthens hair so it appears thicker, fuller, and more attractive; Candlenut Body Crème by Juara, a new moisturizer containing candlenut crème, known for its high content of essential fatty acids; the TurboIon Croc, a straightening iron that features a built-in in turbo ion-generator (patent-pending) that seals hair cuticles and prevents split ends, reduces frizz, and retains the hair’s natural moisture, oil, and color; DevaConcepts, sulfate free products formulated specifically for curly hair; and the spring collection limited edition BarbieTM Loves Stila makeup sets.
